Haunted places in border areas of two countries are not uncommon. If you search on Google, you may find many of them. But guess what? In Bangladesh, there's this super spooky place right on the border with Myanmar.
Seriously, it'll send shivers down your spine when you hear about it. It's called Chikon Kala, and it sits right between Bandarban, Bangladesh, and the Chin State in Burma. This place is so eerie that folks around here call it the haunted forest of Chikon Kala. Boo! 👻
Chikon Kala? Well, it's like being in an exciting adventure story! But getting there is not as simple as it sounds. There are lots of wild animals like bears, deer, leopards, wild cats, wild boars, peacocks, elephants, and snakes in that area.
Now, here's the thing. Communicating with the people who live in Chikon Kala is not very easy. But those who've been brave enough to visit can't stop talking about the beautiful natural scenery in those hills. It's like stepping into a magical storybook.
But here's the interesting part. Most people don't go into this forest, and it's not just because of the wild animals. The locals have their reasons, and it adds a mysterious twist to the story! 🌲🌄🕵️♂️
Myths Behind Haunted Chikon Kala Jungle
The folks living around Chikon Kala, mainly the Murung Tribe, have some spine-tingling beliefs about this jungle. They think there are evil spirits lurking in the shadows.
Every now and then, a mysterious and eerie sound echoes from within the forest. If anyone doesn't make a swift exit at that very moment, it may be the end of his life. It's as if the forest swallows them whole.
Sadly, every year, this forest claims three, four, or even more lives from the local community. After a few days, they find the missing person's dead body, which doesn't have any sign of injury. Locals claim that it still happens. So, usually, they avoid this forest, especially from the evening to dawn.
A True Horror Story About Haunted Forest of Chikon Kala
This chilling tale comes from a person who shared their experience on Bhoot FM, a popular radio show dedicated to true horror stories, on January 27, 2017. Here's what they recounted:
Back in 1979, the Myanmar army was brutalizing many Muslim Rohingyas in the Rakhine State, forcing countless Rohingya refugees to flee to Bangladesh. The Bangladeshi government provided them shelter in Cox's Bazar. During this time, a research team arrived from the USA to learn about the plight of the Rohingya people and the real situation on the ground. They spent two months in Bangladesh, gathering information.
One day, they heard about a mysterious and haunted place known as Chikon Kala. Then, they decided to visit that place to discover the mystery.
On a suitable day, they went and stayed there from morning to evening. But they did not find anything unusual. They spent several days in the area, from morning to evening, but found no sign of paranormal activities. It seemed like a wild goose chase, and they were growing weary and disheartened.
They began to think that Chikon Kala was just a spooky legend, nothing more. They decided not to go there again. However, one of their members argued and asked them to go there one more day. Yes. They went there the next day.
The morning, noon, and even the early afternoon passed without any signs of supernatural incidents. But, when evening came and they prepared to leave the Chikon Kala jungle, five of them began to hear bizarre sounds.
Astonishingly, each team member heard different types of noises. One felt as if an earthquake was shaking the ground, and he even sensed soldiers approaching on horseback. Another heard a storm raging, with a powerful wind destroying everything in its path. The remaining three experienced their own eerie phenomena.
They remembered what the locals had warned them about this haunted place. Fear crept in, and they hastily made their exit. However, one member remained behind, not having heard or felt anything unusual. When he became completely alone in the jungle, he started hearing faint, indecipherable whispers. It seemed like some ghostly creatures were talking to each other.
He tried to hear more clearly and realized that they were not conversing among themselves; these otherworldly beings were saying something to himself. He got scared and left the forest.
But that's not the end of the story. The man who left Chikon Kala later encountered a series of paranormal experiences in his life. Almost every night, he heard those same whispers.
He tried hard to understand what the ghosts were trying to say. At last, he deciphered the language—it was Egyptian. If anyone translates it, this will be something like "You will die, You will die...".
This man was of Egyptian origin but lived with his family in South Carolina, United States. Even his family members began hearing these ghostly whispers at night.
The tale takes a grim turn. After five years of enduring this torment, the man's death was far from ordinary. When people looked at his lifeless body, it was evident that he became very scared by seeing something horrible and died.
